This sandstone fountain comes from Westerwald (Germany) and was
made by the Reinhold Hank Company, somewhere between 1870 and 1880. It has been
authenticated by the Westerwald Ceramics Museum which has pronounced it to be unique and
extremely valuable. Indoor fountains were used by wealthy families for washing their hands after meals. Servants filled them with water before mealtimes. Some of them only hold a small amount of water. Click on the picture to go back to the Museum |
